Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Pocket Hanzi (the "App"), provided by Eric Jiang. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

The service

Pocket Hanzi is a language-learning app that helps you study Chinese characters through flashcards, a lock-screen widget, and personalized practice. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your region).

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the App, including: attempting to access other users’ data, disrupting or overloading our systems, reverse-engineering the App, or using it for any unlawful purpose.

Content and intellectual property

• The App, its design, and its learning content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. You are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App for your own learning.
• Definitions and example sentences are provided for educational purposes and may contain occasional errors.

Educational disclaimer

The App is a study aid. We do not guarantee any specific learning outcome, exam result, or level of fluency. Your progress depends on your own effort.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the App.

Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or misuse the App.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
